Privacy Policy — X Video Exporter

X Video Exporter (the "Extension") is a Chrome extension with a single purpose: to build a list of the video posts already loaded on the x.com page you are viewing, and download those videos to a folder on your own computer. This policy explains what data the Extension handles, how it is used, and whether it is shared.

1. Data the Extension handles

Only when you actively click the Extension icon and use its features:

• Content of the x.com page you have open: posts the page has already loaded — post URLs, author usernames, timestamps, text snippets, and the URLs and resolutions of their video files. This content is fetched by your own logged-in browser session; the Extension only reads data the page already has.
• The URL of your current tab: used solely to check whether the current page is x.com, so the scan button can be enabled. It is neither stored nor logged.
• The local folder you choose: authorized by you through the browser's folder picker. The Extension only writes video and index files into that folder.

The Extension does not handle your X password or other credentials, cookies, financial or payment information, health information, precise location, or contacts, and does not read content from any site other than x.com.

2. How data is used and stored

• The collected list is kept in the browser's session storage (chrome.storage.session) and in memory, so the Extension can show counts and know what to download when you click. It is cleared when the browser is closed.
• Downloaded videos and exported CSV/JSON index files are written to the local folder you picked. No one else can access them.
• The Extension has no server-side component: no telemetry, no behavioural analytics, no advertising.

3. Transmission and sharing

• No data is transmitted to the developer or to any third party. No backend, no remote code, no third-party analytics or ad SDKs.
• When downloading, the Extension makes HTTPS GET / HEAD requests to X's video CDN video.twimg.com to fetch the video files. This is the only external request, triggered by you clicking "start download".
• Exported index files stay on your computer; sharing them is your choice.

4. Sale of data and purpose limitation

• User data is not sold, rented, or transferred to any third party.
• User data is not used for purposes unrelated to the single purpose described above.
• User data is not used to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
• User data is not used for ad targeting or any form of monetisation.

5. Permissions and their purposes

• storage — store scan results in session storage for download and export.
• scripting — after you click the Extension, inject read-only scripts into your current x.com tab to read media info from posts the page has loaded.
• activeTab — access the current tab only when you click the Extension icon.
• downloads — provide the optional browser-download path and export CSV/JSON index files.
• https://x.com/*, https://twitter.com/* — inject the read-only scanning script on those sites.
• https://video.twimg.com/* — fetch video files from that CDN after you click download.

6. Security

All external communication uses HTTPS. The Extension does not write to or modify x.com pages, does not like, post, repost or follow on your behalf, and does not circumvent any technical protection measure.

7. Children

The Extension is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any data from them.

8. Changes

Any change to this policy will be published on this page with an updated date above. Material changes will also be noted in the Extension's update notes.
